Wow, it seems that the last weekend’s result hasn’t affected us psychologically at all.
A brilliant display of football by the team as we dominated the game and got the vital three points.
At the back we weren’t troubled much but still the backline dealt nicely on the few occasions the Wolves came into our area. The communication among the back four was very good as we used the off sisde trap really well.
In the middle our passing and movement was top notch. They created many opportunities a few of which should have been scored.
Up front, the finishing was decent considering the goals of van Persie. However, we still need to improve our finishing.
Coming to player ratings:
Szczesny (6.5): A spectator most of times as he comfortably collected the few balls that went down his way.
Sagna and Clichy (6.5): Did their job on the wings and kept the opposition players quiet.
Koscielny (7): Another top game from the Frenchman. Made his usual excellent interceptions and clearances and never gave space to the Wolves players.
Djourou (7): He too had a top game. Looked confident and composed with the ball and as always was dominant in the air.
Wilshere (8.5): Awesome stuff from the young Englishman. He was brilliant going forward while also looked comfortable in holding the ball and breaking the wolves play down. His passing, movement, creativity and final balls were immaculate and any other day he would have had a couple of assists. Simply out sanding stuff.
Fabregas (7.5): Controlled our midfield with ease. Dropped down deep to bring the ball out and combined really well with Arshavin, van Persie and Wilshere. Got an assist on the first goal and was involved in the second. He does need to improve his performance in front of goal though.
Song (7): Again a beast in the middle. Always quick to close the wolves player and break down their play. Linked nicely with the forwards. Gave away possession a few times but otherwise didn’t put a foot wrong.
Arshavin (7): Another superb game from the Russian. He was very good with his movement and running as he opened up Wolves with ease. His work rate was also good as he backtracked a lot and provided support to Clichy.
Van Persie (8): Two very well taken goals. Showed good technique on the first and good composure on the second. Could have score plenty more with the amount of opportunities he got. I hope his knee isn’t badly hurt.
Walcott (7): A quiet game by his current standards as he missed an open net when Wilshere set him up. However, was always a threat whenever he got the ball as he ended the game with another assist to his name.
Bendtner (6), Chamakh (6) and Denilson (6) had very little time to make impact but did their jobs.
