Arsenal vs Bolton: Match Preview

So finally the international break is over but not without doing the damage. Theo Walcott joins an ever increasing list of players that have got injured over the international matches. With Van Persie and Bendtner already out, Walcott injury makes our front line look rather depleted. Things are although not bad, as we have got plenty of options. As far as how the injury will effect Walcott and why Arsenal suffer many injuries, that is another post.

Coming to the match on Saturday against Bolton at home, the win should not be much of a problem seeing that we haven’t lost to them since 2006, when Big Sam was their coach. Last season we beat them twice in a space of four days, and in the second one we came back from two goals down to win the match. Still as Denilson has pointed out, we should not take them lightly. Bolton have made a good start to their season with 5 points from 3 games and they will be hoping to get something out of this match. Under Coyle they have changed their playing style a bit but still they have players who like to play rough. If Arsenal can keep the possession and control midfield, three points will be in the bag.

Coming to team news, our injury list has had changes. Nasri might be available after recovering from his knee operation, other than that Van Persie is out till mid October, Walcott is also out for six weeks along with Bendtner, who may be the first to return to play. There are also reports that Vermaelen has injured his achilles and will not be available. Djourou and Denilson are back in squad.

So for me Almunia to start as keeper, Koscielny will be partnered by Squillaci and they will be flanked by Sagna and Clichy. In midfield Song along with Diaby, but I have a feeling that Wilshere might be selected. Fabregas might be there in the mid if Rosicky starts at front. If Vela starts then Rosicky will be in the mid with Fabregas on the bench as he returns after a bit of travelling. Up front Chamakh will be partnered by Arshavin.

Predicted team: Almunia, Sagna, Koscilny, Squillaci, Clichy, Song, Fabregas, Diaby, Rosicky, Chamakh, Arshavin

It will be good if we get a clean sheet in this match and score at least three goals. So 3 nil to Arsenal.

After this match, the games will be coming thick and fast, with Champions League and Carling Cup also starting, there is plenty of football to look forward to. And I hope we can get through this time without getting more players injured.

That’s all for now.
