So to the first real test of Arsenal this season, considering we haven’t won last seven of the away games to Big Sam’s team in the Premier League.
The last defeat at Ewood Park in May would still be fresh in the teams mind as we conceded two late goals. The war of words has already ensued between Big Sam and Wenger. The gist of what Wenger has said is that referees should make sure that a football match should remain a football match and not turn into rugby. Sam Allardyce had this to say.
No matter what, we know what to expect against the Rovers and we should be the winning such matches.
Coming to team news we have got Koscielny back after serving his one match ban. Denilson is also back in the squad. We still have Bendtner, Djourou, Nasri, Ramsey and Frimpong missing. Squillaci is also not available
In goal we will have to go with Almunia as there are no other options, disregarding the fact that we have four keepers. The back line shall consist of Sagna, Clichy, Vermaelen and Koscielny. Song will return to his favored position. The other man can be either Wilshere, Diaby or Rosicky but I think Diaby will go beside Song to have more protection for the defence. Fabregas should return to his playmaking role if he starts otherwise we have Rosicky. Up front Wenger will be having a hard time. If we start with a lone striker than either of Van Persie or Chamakh will be there flanked by Arshavin and Walcott. If both the strikers start than I guess Walcott will start on the bench. Even Arshavin can be droped to be replaced by Rosicky if we start with Diaby and Song. Heck it’s too much, let the boss decide.
My predicted team is: Almunia, Sagna, Koscielny Vermaelen, Clichy, Song, Diaby, Fabregas, Arshavin, Van Persie and Walcott
I hope the team comes up good and score a lot of goals just to shut the mouths of all those doubters out there. It’s a difficult place to go out and play and the tactics employed will be just to unsettle us. Possession will be the key and we should be a bit more direct and get stuck in where necessary as we won’t be spared ourselves. I feel that a win tomorrow will really kick-start our season in the real sense.
Predicted Score: Blackburn 0 – 2 Arsenal
